Day 8

Hi all, (Brad today)

Since there was not much excitement going on today, I thought I would write down some of the differences between here and back in Nebraska. After two mission trips and a China adoption, these are not new to us but still hard to remember.

1--Taking a shower with water dribbling on your head--sometimes it's even warm!
2--Brushing your teeth with a water bottle--don't stick the toothbrush under the faucet!
3--Always putting the bathroom paper in the wastebasket.
4--Taxi's always honking at you--but don't wave back because they will pull over alongside you!
5--Riding in a taxi or car and holding on for dear life! (They drive like crazy!)
6--Stop signs and traffic lanes are only for decoration!
7--Litter doesn't seem to matter--it's all over.
8--Lots of strange smells around--don't ask, you don't usually don't want to know what it is.
9--Eating food that is different--some is really good and some not so much.

Differences with the new family--
1--Bigger table needed at restaurant--and money too!
2--Speaking different languages with no translator.
3--Brotherly love (a.k.a. fighting)--For spots at the table, swingsets, in the taxi, the beds, or anywhere else two or more are gathered!
4--Dad and mom thinking one or two steps ahead to keep #3 from happening!

I am sure we will experience many new things in our family for a long time. Everything is new for our boys. However, we are blessed to have been given this family.

Brad

  1. Boy! You're sure taking off on this blogging thing! You're giving me inspiration for when we are in China! I hope we will be able to blog most of the days.

  2. Wow! It definitely helps remind us that there's no place like home. You certainly don't have to worry about waving at a taxi in downtown Murdock. :) It's nice to know that the "brotherly love/fighting" thing spans all countries and languages. :)

    Give everyone a hug!
